Information
Our Founder
Raised in Finnish Lapland, Karo learned early that nature is both a source of beauty and a responsibility. Surrounded by forests, lakes, and long northern seasons, she developed a lasting appreciation for craftsmanship, resourcefulness, and thoughtful design.
After building a career as a fashion make-up artist in Los Angeles, Karo returned to making with her hands when the world slowed in 2020. Jewelry became a quiet creative practice, one that drew together her love of art, material, and form.
Each piece is handcrafted in Karo’s Los Angeles studio using reclaimed, vintage, and repurposed materials whenever possible. The result is jewelry rooted in simplicity, intention, and the care with which it is made.

Our Philosophy
“Koru” means jewelry in Finnish. Karo’s Finnish sensibility is a pillar of the Karo Koru brand.
Sustainability begins with what already exists. Karo Koru works primarily with vintage, reclaimed, deadstock, and repurposed materials, giving existing beads, pearls, glass, and textiles a new life through thoughtful craftsmanship.
Every decision, from sourcing to packaging, is guided by a commitment to reducing waste while continually refining practices to lessen environmental impact.
